Final Comments!

What a great experience it has been for me! Thanks so much to Amanda and the rest of the ETG Group! It has been a fascinating learning curve which has expanded my horizons immensely. My children and family are so impressed at my knowledge about Wikis, flickr, de.li.cious, virtual games, Facebook and Second Life. I’m glad I participated in Learning 2.0 @ Mac! I will definitely participate in further training and I can’t wait to hear about what is up next.

The drop-in sessions were very helpful but in the future I would like to suggest that there be a more formal instruction on each individual topic as well as the informal ones.

Once again, thanks to all and keep up the great work!

Week #8: Online Applications & Tools

Today I registered in Last.fm and LibraryThing.  I love both of these online applications.

Last.fm is a great starting point to help me build up a muscial profile of my favorite artists.  I’m also exploring ’scrobbling’ which I hope to use to build my own personalized radio station.

LibraryThing is also great. I’m going to use it to help me organize my personal library. I can’t believe how quick and easy it is.

I’ve checked out RedKid.net and fd’s Flickr Toys and I’ve used meebo.  I hope to explore more of  Zoho soon, time permitting, so that I can use it on a regular basis among my co-workers.

I can’t believe how user friendly and useful all of these applications are.  The best part is that they are all free.   What a great learning curve it has been for me learning about all of this online stuff.  I’m glad I participated in Learning 2.0.

Week #11: Firefox

Last Friday I downloaded Firefox.  I really like the SeaMonkey add-ons.  I’ve chosen dicitonaries in other languages and I downloaded the Italian one.  I hope to use it more frequently once I get more time.  Next, I’d like to add on Forecastfox to get the international weather.

Week #6 & #7: Time for Discovery!

Thanks for these times to ask questions and get more help.  I wish I had more time at work to explore and do the exercises.  The various sessions were great cause I was forced to sit for 1 hour at a time to try something new with the help of the ETG Group.

Week #10: Gaming & Virtual Environments

I went to the gaming session with Kelly,  Amanda and Krista. It was quite fascinating to see what is available out there.  I’m not really into games cause I don’t seem to have the patience and time to spend on them.  My son loves playing all of the sports games which he would spend a lot of time on if we allow him to.  I must admit that I do play a little of Spider Solitaire from time to time.  I really liked watching everyone dance to the Dance Revolution game.  I think I’m going to purchase it cause it would be a great game to play with family and friends.  The virtual world of Second Life looks very interesting as well.  I need to spend more time exploring it.  I’m trying to figure out how it can be applied for teaching purposes.   Virtual worlds are pretty mind boggling but I do appreciate the chance to learn about them through Learning 2.0.  Thanks again to everyone!

Week #4: Wikis

A wiki is a great tool that everyone can contribute to.  I prefer pbwiki cause I like the layout and find it’s easier to use.  We have a wiki for our department entitled: Resource Management.   It’s great, everything you need seems to be right at your fingertip!

Week #9: Facebook

What a great opportunity!  Thanks!  Today I learned all about Facebook.  It is an amazing way to stay in touch with family and friends.  I enjoyed creating my own avatar which I’m sure everyone will recognize.  Anyways, today the sun is shining brightly and I hope to enjoy the outdoors this weekend.  Glad winter is finally over.
